Chantomancies is a delicious and engaging performance, in which it is beautiful to acknowledge how, after a first moment of coldness from the audience (as it is normal in interactive shows), even the shiest and most fearful one, is encouraged to participate, pushed by the desire of being “read” by the magnetic performer.
Thanks to a deck of cards, words, voice, a fistful of songs,
she is able, with courtesy and delicacy, to touch the right strings and excite the audience. Thanks to her strong sensibility she leads the spectator to look through the keyhole of temporarily closed doors.

The performance Chantomancies makes its debut in August 2012 within the 2nd edition of the independent contemporary art Festival Seminaria Sogninterra

The work participates then to theatre and contemporary art festivals, and is presented as collateral event in the 9th edition of the music festival Mu.Vi.Ment.S at the medieval castle of Itri.
The work emerges from the need of investigating individual perception of the variety of possible roles: the spectator is therefore invited to play a new card, to re-discover a personal element which is dormant or has been left aside. A deck of cards is available for the audience.
The 22 cards correspond to major arcana of Tarots, and the performance - far from being an act of divination - is strongly based on the concept of synchronicity.
Cards are not immediately recognised by the spectator, since the deck used is the result of an original graphic research made by the illustrator Cecilia Viganò.
Spectators relate themselves with a visual input that is interpreted by the performer. The interpretation does not occur through a verbal oracular reading, but through the execution of the singing/performing related to that card.
Each of the 22 arcanas, present in fact inner features which can be expressed musically, through different vocal and musical performances: from swing to traditional singing, blues, tropicalism, ballad, tango, rock, free improvisation on electronic music compositions, and so on.
Spectators and performers share the unexpectedness of what is going to happen: chance for the spectator and for the performer create an extremely intense moment, in which spectator and performer share an instant of improvisation within an intimate and dedicated relationship. Sometimes the spectator spontaneously participates to the improvisation on her/his card. The rest of the audience participate to the musical execution, sometimes waiting for their turn, sometimes simply listening to what is happening, some other times…
